Melody’s Story

I was five when I pointed at the serval and Savannah in a cat book and told my parents I'd have one someday. They thought they were too wild, too expensive, not for us. I had to find out for myself.

So I grew up loving cats the only way I could: rescuing them. Fosters, feral kittens left in boxes outside grocery stores, anything that needed saving. For years I thought that meant becoming a vet, until I realized I didn't want to spend my life watching animals suffer. I wanted to spend it helping them thrive. Somewhere in there I made two promises to myself: I'd own a Savannah one day, and I'd spend my life helping cats who couldn't help themselves.

In 2020 I rescued a polydactyl kitten bound for the shelter and trained her so well she out-tricks our dogs. That's when it clicked: training cats wasn't just something I could do, it was my gift. I was working remotely as a full-time engineer, and I saw a way to turn all of it into something bigger. Breed this extraordinary cat, raise each one like family, and let every kitten fund the rescues I could never reach on my own. Every cat I raise helps another find its way home.

Savannahs carry wild instincts most people underestimate, and they ask for a level of training and care few are ready to give. When you bring home one of my kittens, you get me too: everything I know about raising this breed the right way. Every SavCats kitten grows up the way our own cats live now, the best trained you'll ever meet, calm enough to sit on the hood of a car at a show while a crowd gathers around. That's the SavCats difference. Cats raised with devotion, trained with love, and born to turn heads.

Our Breeding Pair

Meet our cats

Every SavCats kitten begins with our two breeding cats, a carefully chosen, TICA-registered pairing raised in our home. Health, temperament, and beauty come first.

Our Stud Sire

Rari is the calmest, most laid-back cat you will ever meet. He is a total cuddler who just wants to be wherever we are: on his window perch beside the desk all day, out on the catio when he pleases, and tucked into our arms every night, where he sleeps straight through without moving. He is so gentle and easygoing that claw trims and handling are no fuss at all, and he is a perfect gentleman who always lets Porsche eat first. Like Porsche, he is trained for car events and will shake paws and give high fives. His mellow, affectionate nature is the perfect balance to Porsche's spark, and together they give their kittens the best of both: confident and social, but calm and deeply cuddly.

Porsche
Our Foundation Dam

Porsche has the biggest, boldest spots we have ever seen on a Savannah, and she passes those striking markings straight to her kittens. She is also the heart of our cattery, and she loves like a dog: she runs to greet us with headbutts and a tail poofed up in excitement, gives real kisses, and will play fetch with us for hours. She is brilliant and trained, she shakes paws and gives high fives for her minnow treats, and she travels the country with us, calm and social the whole way, from car shows to Monterey Car Week to a 4,700 mile car rally. She is deeply bonded to her people and a devoted, attentive mother to every litter, and her kittens grow up watching her and inherit the best of her: those bold spots and her affectionate, confident, loyal temperament.

A Rare Match

Why a fertile pairing like this is so uncommon

In the Savannah breed, male cats are sterile from the F1 through F4 generations, they simply cannot sire kittens. Even an F5 male, the first generation where fertility becomes possible, isn’t guaranteed: many are still sterile, and others aren’t a genetic match for a particular queen.

That’s what makes Rari and Porsche so special. Our F5 King is not only fertile but a perfect match for our F1 Queen, a pairing we feel genuinely lucky to have. Together they produce kittens with the best personalities, the biggest, boldest spots, and that unmistakable wild look.

“Your F2s look so good they could pass for F1s, just with a sweeter, more domesticated temperament.”
